There are many girls around the world that have their minds set on a thought of making themselves look taller. High heels are their best friends. And there are girls like me, who are 180 cm (around 5' 10") tall and wearing very high heels might result in some serious head injury and public humiliation.
Of course, it's a joke, but has a bit of truth to it - sometimes I sooo wanna look petite. So, if sometimes you wish to look shorter here's a few things you might do for it.
1. Wear flats. For us, tall girls, ballerina shoes and all kind of flats are the best friends. Hey, there's a huge plus in wearing flats - your feet will not get tired, you can walk faster, and you will not appear taller that most of your guy friends. ;) And, I mean, some of the trendies and cutest flats have been resently re-discovered: Oxford shoes, slippers, loafers, and boat shoes. If it doesn't sound like heaven, I don't know what does!
Even celebreties wear flas, so embrace them too.
2. Maxi dresses and skirts. They cover your long and gorgeous legs and show minimum bear skin. So they definitely make you look shorter. And, please, just stick to flats. That combo kills it - you instantly look a dozen cm shorter! And they are still in trend! ;)
3. Long hair. Have you ever noticed how girls with very long hair appear to be shorter, and the girld sporting a short cut look taller? That's because long hair covers your neck and falls down your back. So it kind of "gounds" you and creates an illusion of a shorter torso.
Compare Emma Watson's photos. See, how she looks much taller when she has pixie hair cut?

4. Baggy, slouchy, and oversized clothes. Layering.Everything that has perfect fitting to your body will make you appear taller, highlighting the proportions of your body.
Baggy clothes act almost the same as maxi dresses. They somewhat alternate your body proportions "erasing" the line between your torso and legs. Also, an oversized sweater or jacket instantly makes you look smaller and more fragile.

Otherwise, my advice would be wearing jackets and blazers that hit the middle of your heep. J. Crew has an awesome selection of those!

Because I'm only 157 cm tall, I read this from a different perspective... I had no idea that short hair could make me look taller! It makes me wonder why I've always worn my hair so long ;)

I always find maxi dresses make me look taller actually, but maybe it depends on the cut of it! I really like your blog! I'm glad that I found it! It would be nice if you could stop by my blog sometime too (I'm from England) as I post my outfits, personal style, likes and much more :) :)
